Powerline Networks

You can now install a network anywhere you have power outlet. Using your existing electrical outlets you can create a Local Area Network to share information between several computers, to share printers and to safely connect your private network to the rest of the world over the Internet.

Powerline Communications uses the electrical wires of a building as the conduit to transmit data. Maximizing the use of existing infrastructures, PLC is a reliable and secure way to network. With PLC, setting a Local Area Network (LAN) and connecting multiple computers to share Internet access, files, printers, or any other resources, has never been easier. PLC allows you to simply set up a network by plugging into any electrical outlet making it possible for instant connectivity.

You plug a computer power line adapter into the wall and connect your computer to it. You attach more computers to the network, simply connect  them using more power line adapters.

Why use Powerline Communications rather than Wireless?

Wireless networking uses radio frequency (RF) signals to transmit data. It provides the most flexibility and mobility for the end user. However, wireless networking is limited to a much lesser distance than 200 metres and it may suffer signal loss in individual offices and rooms.
